The Payments module has support for coupons which can be used to:
- Discount only if a minimum spend is reached
- Discount something by a fixed amount in any currency (for example £5 off). This is usually combined with a minimum spend for e.g. "£5 off if you spend £20 or more".
- Discount by a % on the final price, for example 20% off on orders over £50.
- Create an extended free trial of subscriptions. The card will still be authorised but the first payment date will be delayed.
Note that if any combination if discounting results in the price going negative, it is set to 0.
Coupons can't currently be used to do product combination or product category discounts, but the support for that can be added in the future if it's required. This is, for example, "50% off any hats when you buy at least 1 shirt".
