Many features of websites require some form of user or generally user tracking. If you would like unique anonymous users on your site then the anonymous users module is likely what you'll need. The users will be created as the guest role.

Getting Started

Install the module like so:

socialstack install Api/AnonymousUsers

Once you've restarted your API, anonymous users will start being created with animal names by default. Note that an anonymous user will only be created when logged out (you can try it in, for example, a private window).

Optional configuration

When you start your API with this installed for the first time, a new configuration entry will be automatically created with the name "AnonymousUser". This is visible on the administration panel under settings.

If you don't want animal names to be randomly generated, you can instead specify a custom set of FirstNames and LastNames in the config for it to randomly pick from instead.

Some types of bot (typically these are high frequency service health monitoring ones) arriving on your site can cause unnecessary additional users. Use the IgnoreUserAgents configuration option to specify a list of one or more UserAgents which should not have a user created for them.
